The Oblivious Chronology of Michael Jay Garner

(as it relates to all things Firefly):

2002 - Mike manages to watch only one partial (Train Job) and one complete (Jaynestown) episode when Firefly first airs.  His excuse: Twitchy eyes resulting from magnesium deficiency.

2003 - Firely DVD box set is released, and Mike keeps hearing how good the series is - but he is still frightened and confused by Schwarzenegger's gubernatorial victory and continues to miss out.

2004 - Mike goes to Dragon Con 2004 with some Browncoats who attend every Firefly event, but still manages to miss the boat by haggling all weekend with a vendor over a Mandalorian can opener.

April 2005 - Everything Mike remembers about Firefly at this point: "There's like, a spaceship, a captain, a tough guy and a space prostitute - right?"

May 2005 - A Browncoat named Jeff Lenhard graciously offers Mike his ticket to the advanced screening of Serenity on May 26th.  Mike, now able to cope with the new landscape of California politics after finally opening that pesky sealed can of magnesium, accepts Jeff's generous offer.

Still May 2005 - Mike realizes the error of his ways.

Still Still May 2005 - Mike buys, and proceeds to binge watch all 14 episodes.  His life shifts into all things Firefly, and proceeds to tell every person he knows about the show and the movie over the next three months...

September 2005 - Dragon Con 2005 - Mike's geek is in full throttle. He attends every Firefly panel, performs a card trick for some of cast, and meets some incredible folks known as Browncoats - including the DTI folks and a fella by the name of Rob Kuhlman...the rest is future history...

2034 - Mike turns 60 years old, and finally takes a day off  from talking about Firefly...in order to binge watch the box set again.
